Adding interactive goodies to your website -- free!

Introduction

If you've got a website and you'd like to add some interactive elements to it and don't want to hire a programmer to create these for you, then I've got a site with already-programmed, cut-and-paste web-based services that you'll fall in love with. I'm a raving fan and frequently use their stuff. Basic levels of access/use is totally free, and it's plenty.

Why add cool stuff to your website? Because it involves the visitors and demonstrates your e-savviness. And it's fun. And it will lead to new clients and larger networks, both of which are worth tens of thousands of dollars to any professional.

Welcome to Bravenet

Bravenet.com is a company that has created some custom programming that do cool things (see list below). They let you use these bits of code on your website for free. Most of the 'background processing/work' gets done real-time by the Bravenet site, although your visitors don't know this, which is good.

Bravenet keeps adding new stuff. It's all free. However, if you want to upgrade, it's $99 to do so. There are a couple of benefits of upgrading, but it's not necessary.

Using Bravenet can save you thousands of dollars in custom programming and it's really easy way to ease into the world of interactive websites with no cost and no risk. Great place to experiment. And, if you're new to HTML, you'll get familiar with cutting and paste bits of HTML. They provide really good step-by-step instructions.

Here's how it works.
You pick the interactive/web goodie that you want to add to your website and you click a button and Bravenet emails you the HTML code to cut and paste into your home (or other) pages.

To cut and paste this code, just open Front Page (or whatever you use for your webpage), open the HTML document that is your home page -- or whatever page you want to use -- and click on HTML at the bottom of Front Page like this:

Then, just copy the HTML code they provide you with, insert it where you want it to appear and click on Normal to see how it looks!
